Ghana’s first-leg meeting with Nigeria in the qualifiers to the 2022 FIFA World Cup could be played outside the West African country.

Already, the match has been scheduled to be staged at the Cape Coast Stadium in the Central Region of Ghana.

According to the latest information gathered, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) last week filed a petition to FIFA to complain about the poor state of the Cape Coast Stadium.

The petition was attached with pictures of the pitch at the Cape Coast Stadium sourced from the official Twitter handle of the National Sports Authority

With FIFA now concerned with the poor state of the pitch, the world football governing body is considering asking Ghana to move the first leg of the Nigeria tie to either Morocco or Benin.

Before that decision will be taken, CAF officials are expected to arrive in Ghana on Monday to conduct an inspection of the Cape Coast Stadium.

The report by the officials after the inspection will determine the final decision.
