2022 U-20 Women’s WCQ: Black Princesses beat Zambia to advance to next round

The Black Princesses of Ghana have booked a slot in the next round of qualifiers for the 2022 U-20 Women’s World Cup after securing a 1-0 win over Zambia in Cape Coast.

A 35th-minute strike by Evelyn Badu ensured the Black Princesses advanced to the next round of qualifiers on an aggregate scoreline of 1-0 after holding the Young Copper Queens of Zambia to a 0-0 draw in the reverse fixture.

Salamatu Abdullai had the first chance of the game inside the 2nd-minute of the encounter, but her effort only found the arms of the Zambian goalkeeper.

Ben Fokuo’s side were in cruise control of the game and was rewarded with skipper, Evelyn Badu breaking the deadlock on the 35th-minute mark.

It was more of the same for Ghana, having patches of brilliance in the second half as well. Rahama Jafar came closest for the Black Princesses, but her fine strike hit the post to deny Ghana a 2-0 lead.

The Black Princesses then held on to secure a slot in the next round of qualifiers against Uganda.
