Ghana Premier League legend, Charles Taylor has insisted that Sulley Muntari must be overlooked for the 2022 Fifa World Cup playoff games against Nigeria.
Following his impressive performance in the ongoing 2021/22 Ghana Premier League, Muntari has dominated the local media with his performance.
And after starring in Hearts of Oak’s 2-1 win over Asante Kotoko, fans called for the inclusion of the former AC Milan and Inter Milan midfielder in Black Stars squad for the two crucial games later this month.
However, Taylor, who is a former Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak ace says the 37-year-old must concentrate on gaining full fitness at the club and not to think of returning to the Black Stars.
“Sulley Muntari is not a Black Stars material for the Nigeria clash. We need serious players!,” he told Accra based Angel FM.
“He should focus on Hearts of Oak so he gains fitness. He can be called when Ghana qualifies for the World Cup,” he added.
Ghana will host the Super Eagles at the Cape Coast Stadium on March 25 before travelling to Abuja for the return game on March 29.
Muntari signed a one year deal with the Phobians in February. He has featured four times, assisting once in the process.
He was part of Ghana’s squad that played in the 2006, 2010 and 2014 World Cup in Germany, South Africa and Brazil respectively.
