2026 WCQ: We have to do the job well and qualify – Former Black Stars defender

Former Black Stars defender Isaac Vorsah has emphasized the need for the current Ghana squad to raise their performance levels as they push for qualification to the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.

The Black Stars made a strong statement in March 2025 with back-to-back victories in their qualifying campaign, thrashing Chad 5-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium and securing a convincing 3-0 win over Madagascar in Morocco.

The results have boosted morale and indicated steady progress following a challenging 2024 season.

Speaking on the team’s journey, Vorsah expressed his support for the Ghana Football Association’s ongoing rebuilding efforts and urged the players to stay focused and committed.

We have to work harder, as we want to qualify. We have qualified already for me but we have to do the work well, so that we can also ho and watch some.”

So that we can be happy that as Ghanaians we have also come for the world cup.

Vorsah, who featured in four major international tournaments including three Africa Cup of Nations in 2010, 2012, and 2013, as well as the historic 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa brings experience and insight to his call for greater dedication.

The Black Stars will resume their World Cup qualifying campaign in September 2025, facing Chad before hosting Mali in matchdays 7 and 8 of the qualifiers.
