Aaron Ramsey is close to securing a deadline day move away from Juventus, 90min understands, with Rangers in talks over a loan deal for the midfielder as they look to see off competition from Wolves.
Injuries and stiff competition for places have meant the Welshman has failed to have the desired impact in Turin since his high-profile free transfer from Arsenal in 2019.
The 31-year-old has managed just 25 starts in Serie A during his two and a half years in Italy and just five appearances in all competitions this season. With Juve looking to slash their wage bill and offload some deadwood to make way for new arrivals, he has been deemed surplus to requirements.
Ramsey has been in the headlines throughout January having been offered to the likes of Burnley, Leeds, Crystal Palace and Newcastle – although none of those options have enticed him.
Wolves became the latest Premier League club to make an approach earlier on deadline day, but 90min understands Rangers have stolen a march on them and are in advanced talks over a loan deal for the Wales international.
The Gers now hold the advantage because sources say the player favours a move to Ibrox.
Rodrigo Bentancur is another midfielder who will depart Juventus on deadline day, with a permanent switch to Tottenham all but confirmed. The Uruguayan’s sale will free up space in the squad for the arrival of Denis Zakaria from Borussia Monchengladbach, while the Bianconeri hope Ramsey’s imminent exit will enable them to sign Cagliari’s Nahitan Nandez.
