The Black Princesses of Ghana secured a convincing 3-1 victory over Senegal in the semi-finals of the ongoing 2023 African Games Women’s Football Tournament. The Cape Coast Sports Stadium erupted on Monday night as Ghana booked their place in the finals.
Tracy Twum opened the scoring for the Black Princesses in the 18th minute, followed by a crucial goal just before halftime from Ophelia S. Amponsah.
Senegal threatened a comeback with a penalty converted by Kande in the 54th minute. However, Amponsah silenced the Senegalese roar with her second goal a minute later, sealing Ghana’s win.
In the other semi-final, defending champions Nigeria defeated Uganda 2-0. This sets the stage for a highly anticipated final between Ghana and Nigeria on March 21. The Black Princesses will look to dethrone Nigeria and claim the gold medal, while Nigeria aims to defend their title.
Meanwhile, Senegal and Uganda will battle it out for the bronze medal on the same day.
