Black Satellites

Ghana’s Black Satellites secured a vital 3-1 victory against Gambia in their second match of the ongoing 2023 African Games Men’s Football Tournament at the Accra Sports Stadium on Tuesday night.

This win comes after their opening match draw against Congo, putting them in a strong position to advance to the knockout stages.

Musibau Aziz opened the scoring for Black Satellites early on, finding the net in the 12th minute. Abdul Aziz Issah doubled the lead just after halftime in the 49th minute, giving Ghana a comfortable advantage. Gambia threatened a comeback when Ebrima Ceesay pulled one back in the 83rd minute, but Ghana held firm. Jerry Afriyie sealed the win for the Black Satellites with a crucial goal in the 89th minute.

With this victory, Ghana takes the top spot in Group A with 4 points. Benin and Congo are tied for second place with 2 points each after their match on Tuesday ended in a scoreless draw. Gambia sits just behind them with 1 point.

Ghana’s fate in the tournament will be decided on March 15 when they face Benin in their final group game. Meanwhile, Congo will battle Gambia on the same day. Only the top two teams from the group will progress to the semi-finals of the 2023 African Games football tournament.
