Ghanaian forward Antoine Semenyo emerged as the hero for AFC Bournemouth on Wednesday night, scoring a brace to lead them to a dramatic 4-3 victory over Luton Town in the English Premier League.
The match, played at the Vitality Stadium, saw Bournemouth claw their way back from a daunting three-goal deficit.
Luton Town dominated the opening half, with Tahith Chong finding the net in the 9th minute. Chiedozie Ogbene added another goal in the 31st minute, and Ross Barkley piled on the misery for Bournemouth with a goal in first-half injury time.
However, Bournemouth refused to surrender. Dominic Solanke ignited the fight-back with a goal five minutes into the second half. Illya Zabarnyi then brought them closer in the 62nd minute before Semenyo took centre stage.
Antoine Semenyo equalized for Bournemouth two minutes later, before securing all three points with a dramatic winner in the 83rd minute.
Semenyo’s brace takes his Premier League tally for the season to an impressive 7 goals and 2 assists in 24 appearances.
The victory marks Bournemouth’s first home league win of 2024 and a significant confidence boost
Despite the win, Bournemouth remain in 13th position on the league table with 35 points after 28 matches. They will now look to extend their winning ways after the international break when they face Everton on March 30.
