Argentina have been crowned as winners of the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup after a resilient display by Lionel Scaloni’s men against defending Champions France.
A game of two halves you may like to call it as Argentina led France by two goals in the first half with Les Blues bouncing back in the second within a minute.
Lionel Messi opened the scoring from the penalty spot to put Argentina in front before Angel Di Maria found Argentina’s second to give them breathing space into the break.
However, the tables turned in the second half after Kylian Mbappe found the back of the net twice with 10 minutes to draw the curtain to the game and found himself as top scorer of the tournament with eight goals.
After 90 minutes, the scores remained level as the game headed into 30 more minutes of extra time.
The first half of extra time went on without a goal as the nerves for both fans continued.
However, Lionel Messi went on to make the impossible happen for Argentina as he slotted past Lloris in the second half of extra time to regain the lead for Argentina and make it 3-2 with seven minutes to end the game.
Two minutes later, Kylian Mbappe stepped up once again from the Penalty spot to regain parity for Les Blues after a handball from Gonzalo Montiel and bag his hatrick making it 12 goals in two world cup editions.
After 120 minutes, the game went on to Penalty shootouts as Emiliano Martinez managed to save two crucial spot kicks of both Coman and Tchouameni while Gonzalo Montiel slotted Argentina’s fourth to finish off the game 4-2 on Penalties in favor of the Albiceleste to crown them World Champions.
Argentina are winners of the Fifa world cup after 36 years with skipper Lionel Messi placing his hands on his most desired prize.
