After the Ghanaian midfielder’s month-long absence due to a thigh injury, Mikel Arteta has voiced his happiness at Thomas Partey’s return to training.

Partey is now a candidate for the forthcoming game against Lens and might play to restore match fitness before a key meeting against Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.

Partey’s return gives Arteta crucial squad depth, especially during this challenging period of the season, despite Arsenal’s remarkable run of five victories and one draw in the six games he was absent from.

Arteta said,  “He’s progressed really well in the last two weeks and he managed to train in the last two or three days with the team and that’s great news for us obviously”
