Asante Kotoko key player misses out on Berekum trip through injury

Asante Kotoko face a daunting challenge against a bogey side in Berekum Chelsea at the Golden City Park, looking to return to winning ways in week four of the Ghana Premier League.

Asante Kotoko midfielder Baba Yahaya is set to miss the club’s crucial matchday four encounter against Berekum Chelsea after sustaining a late injury.

Baba Yahaya, who had been a key figure in Kotoko’s midfield, reported an accident to the club’s medical team earlier today.

The club’s medical team will conduct further assessments later today to evaluate the severity of his injury. In the meantime, youth prospect Jordan Amissah has been called up to fill Yahaya’s spot in the squad for the Berekum trip.

After an impressive away victory over Karela United in their opener, the Porcupines stumbled to a frustrating 1-1 draw at home against newly promoted Young Apostles at their adopted ground, Len Clay Stadium.

It took a late 75th-minute strike from Emmanuel Antwi to rescue a point for the Porcupine Warriors after Daniel Lomotey had put the visitors ahead.

The final whistle was met with palpable displeasure from the home supporters, who were not satisfied with just a point as they sit fourth in the standings.
