Kumasi Asante Kotoko returned to full action in the BetPawa Premier League when they took on Berekum Chelsea in convincing 2-1 victory at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
George Mawuli Vornawah speerheaded the officiating for the tie as Kotoko were denied of an early lead when Charles Owusu swung in a beautiful free kick only to be saved convincingly by Obeng Sekyere.
Few minutes later, Christopher Nettey swung in a beautiful cross that came off the head of Mensah but forced a great saved out of Obeng Sekyere yet again.
However, the tables turned quickly after Andrews Kojo Apaw failed to clear his lines and presented Chelsea’s Sarpong with a shooting opportunity at the edge of the box and he finished it beautifully with power.
It was Sarpong who initiated the move for the goal and finished it as well yet the lead was short lived as Kotoko found themselves level through a Zeze tap in which came of a beautiful Mukwala cutback pass at the stroke of halftime.
After 65 minutes in the second half, the porcupine warriors were awarded a set piece and a beautiful cross found Stephen Mukwala who placed the Champions in front with a powerful header beyond Obeng Sekyere.
Kotoko went on to score a third yet the goal was disallowed as offside although many fans think it should have stood.
Kotoko lie in 2nd place with two points behind leaders Aduana and a point above rivals Hearts of Oak.
