Atletico Madrid edge past Valladolid in emphatic 3-0 victory at the Metropolitano

Atletico Madrid continued their winning ways in La Liga Santander with a 3-0 victory over Valladolid with goals from Alvaro Morata, Antoine Griezmann and Mario Hermoso.

It was a complete first half performance which saw Someone’s men find the opener through Alvaro Morata after 18 minutes of action off an Antoine Griezmann assist.

Griezmann went on to find the back of the net after assisting the opener five minutes later with a great assist from world champion Nahuel Molina.

Mario Hermoso went on to grab a third for Atleti from a set piece with a left footed shot from close range after 28 minutes.

Griezmann came close to grabbing his second on the night right before the break yet was denied by a fine save after a wonderful Renildo cross.

Valladolid looked to come back in the second half after Alvaro Aguado found himself in a great position to pull one back for the visitors yet his shot was far from goal towards the left.

Kike Perez and Angel Correa came close to finding the back of the net for Valladolid and Atleti respectively yet failed to do so.

The game ended 3-0 in favor of Atleti who find themselves now in fourth place three points off Villarreal who have a game in hand.
