Ghanaian midfielder Augustine Boakye came off the bench to score Wolfsberger AC’s fourth goal in a dominant 4-0 victory over Austria Wien in the Austrian Bundesliga relegation round.
The 23-year-old replaced Maximilian Scharfette in the 69th minute and added his name to the scoresheet in stoppage time, securing all three points for his team.
Wolfsberger started strong with Samson Tijani opening the scoring in the 36th minute. Ten minutes into the second half, Thierno Ballo doubled the lead from the penalty spot. Simon Piesinger added a third goal in the 76th minute before Boakye’s late strike sealed the emphatic win.
This victory propels Wolfsberger to the top of the relegation round table with 28 points from 31 matches. Their next challenge comes on May 18th when they face Tirol in their final league game of the season.
Boakye’s goal further strengthens his impressive season. He has now tallied eight goals and nine assists in 28 appearances across all competitions for Wolfsberger.
