Baba Yara Sports stadium set to reopen following renovations

Patience Adams, the Ashanti Regional Public Relations Officer of the National Sports Authority (NSA), has announced that the Baba Yara Sports Stadium is ready to reopen after undergoing extensive renovations.

The stadium was closed following a ruling from the Confederation of African Football (CAF), which deemed it unfit to host Category Three matches earlier this month.

This situation posed a significant risk for Ghana, as the national team faced the possibility of playing its home matches abroad.

In response, the government initiated emergency renovations at the Accra Sports Stadium to ensure it could be approved for the game against Sudan.

Asante Kotoko also had to relocate their home games to the Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium due to the ongoing renovations at Baba Yara.

In an interview with Akoma FM, Adams confirmed that all renovation work at the stadium has been completed.

However, she noted that the facility is awaiting formal approval from the NSA’s superiors in Accra before it can officially reopen.

“All work at the Baba Yara Stadium is completed and ready to host any football events, but we are awaiting clearance from our masters in Accra before the facility can be opened,” she stated.
