Barcelona are set to receive a significant compensation package from UEFA following Pedri’s injury, which rules the midfielder out of Euro 2024.

The injury occurred early in Spain’s dramatic victory against hosts Germany, when Pedri went over Kroos’ outstretched leg in the eighth minute. Forced off the pitch in tears, the Barcelona playmaker likely knew his tournament was over.

Under the FIFA club protection programme rules, UEFA is required to compensate clubs for injuries sustained during international duty. According to reports, Barcelona will receive €20,548 (£17,390/$22,000) for each day Pedri is sidelined beyond one month.

With the midfielder expected to be out for at least a month-and-a-half, Barcelona stands to earn a substantial compensation package to offset the loss of their key player.
