Ghanaian midfielder Bernard Mensah continued his impressive form for Al Tai, scoring the opening goal in a dramatic 2-1 victory over Al Riyadh in the Saudi Pro League on Friday.
The former of Atletico Madrid midfielder broke the deadlock for Al Tai deep into first-half stoppage time (45+1 mins). However, Al Riyadh clawed their way back through Abdulhadi Al-Harajin’s equalizer in the 59th minute.
Just when the spoils seemed destined to be shared, Al Riyadh defender Khalid bin Shuwayyi turned hero for the opposing side. In a dramatic twist, he scored an own goal in the 12th minute of stoppage time (90+12′) to hand Al Tai a thrilling victory.
This win is a major boost for Al Tai, who currently sit 14th in the Saudi Pro League table with 26 points after 28 matches. Mensah’s goal takes his tally for the season to an impressive 12 goals and 1 assist in 24 league appearances.
With Benard Mensah in top form, Al Tai will look to continue their winning ways when they face Al Feiha on April 25 in their next league fixture.
