Black Galaxies secure friendly wins against Great Olympics, Attram De Visser ahead of 2024 CHAN qualifiers

Black Galaxies beat Great Olympics and Attram de Visser in two separate friendly matches at the University of Ghana Stadium on Wednesday November 12, 2024, as part of preparations for the 2024 CHAN qualifier against Nigeria next month.

Mas Ud- Didi Dramani’s first select side thumped Great Olympics 5-2 with a brace from Hearts of Lions’ Mustapha Yakubu and further goals from Issah Yakubu, Nsoatreman FC’s Rahman Mohammed and Asante Kotoko’s Saaka Dauda.

In the second match, Ghana U20 star, Jerry Afriyie,  scored a spectacular overhead kick in the side’s 2-1 win over Attram De Visser. Hafiz Ibrahim also got on the scoresheet as the Black Galaxies triumphed over the second-tier Ghanaian side.

The two low-profile friendly matches forms part of preparations for the TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN)  2024 qualifiers against Nigeria in December.

The first leg of the tie takes place between December 20 – 22, 2024, in Ghana, before the return leg comes off between December 27 -29, 2024, in Nigeria.

Ghana eliminated Nigeria to secure qualification to the last edition of the CHAN tournament in Algeria after a post-match penalty shootout following a 2-2 aggregate scoreline.

The winner of the two-legged tie will secure their spot in CHAN 2024 to be held in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania next year.

Ghana and Nigeria have a long-standing rivalry which is set to be rekindled in what is expected to be a thrilling two-legged affair.
