Brace from Justice Mensah ensured Sharks beat Karela united – match report

Seeing resignation of head coach Nii Odartey Lamptey days before the start of the Ghana premier league matchday six, Elmina sharks ensured second home win in the ongoing 2021/22 GPL season over Ayinase base Karela united, courtesy a brace from Justice Mensah.

With such a poor start by Karela, it was sharks who on the day showed a magnificent display which did not take them soo long a time to open the score sheet on the 18′ minutes, eventually with a good cross by Enoch Agblayone, 9 shirted for Elmina base was met perfectly by Justice Mensah’s header, making it 1-0 and perhaps leading the first half end in favor of the the side.

Sense of ergence from the Ayinase base come into the second half, saw them kept the ball on countless occasion with surging runs but all could not yield to fruition except for a stupendous strike by Enoch Andoh on the 82′ minutes which got goalkeeper Noah Bawa Martey ball watching to pull one back for Karela united.

That, after Justice Mensah had made it 2-0 for Dr Nduom’s side, apparently he ” Justice could have made it three and a hatrick for himself missing narrowly from a Daniel Nii Adjei’s pass infront of goal given the dieing embers of the game.

Hearts Of Oak’s loanee Michelle Sarpong together with veteran Daniel Nii Adjei, all failed to add to the woes of the Cam men, maybe for challenges on the part of Emmanuel Annaful and Isaac Donkoh that led the encounter end in 2-1 for Sharks.

Elmina sharks will play next away to Kumasi base King Faisal in their subsequent match week 7.

In two straight games Karela are yet to pick a maximum accolade after drawing blank last weekend with Kumasi Asante Kotoko back at the Cam park.
