Former Chelsea forward Christian Atsu, per reports has retired from international football, citing he was neglected by the Ghana FA when he suffered a career threatening injury while on international duty at the last AFCON in Egypt.
The 28 year old made in known to head coach Charles Akonnor that he is no longer interested in playing for the Black Stars when the former Ghana captain visited him during his European trip, reason why Atsu was left out of the Ghana squad that was to play Sudan in a double header 2021 AFCON qualifier.
Atsu has to fight for his place in the Newcastle team after he losing his spot to Allan Saint-Maximin due to the setback he suffered while on international duty.
