The stage is set for the intense showdown as Ghana and Nigeria prepare to lock horns in the qualifiers for the 8th edition of the African Nations Championship (CHAN).
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced Togolese officials, led by referee Aklesso Gnama, for the first leg of the encounter slated for December 22, 2024 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Gnama will be the center man, with compatriots Jonathan Ahonto Koffi, Wassiou Tchamolla Ourotou and Kossi Fabrice Senyo as assistant 1, assistant 2 and fourth official respectively.
The return leg will be officiated by a Moroccan team led by Hamza El Fariq at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo, on December 28, 2024.
Abdessamad Abertoune, Zakaria Bouchtaoui and Hicham Temsamani, all from Morocco, will work as assistant 1, assistant 2 and fourth official respectively.
This highly anticipated clash reignites a historic rivalry between the two West African nations.
Nigeria’s Super Eagles B will aim to break a jinx, having been edged out by Ghana in the 2009 and 2023 CHAN qualifiers.
With the aggregate winner securing a spot at the CHAN finals scheduled for February 2025 in Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania, both teams are leaving nothing to chance.
This tournament will serve as a precursor to the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations.
