Check out Hearts of Oak matchday squad against Karela United

After a promising run that saw the Phobians rise into the Premier League’s top four during February and March, their campaign has recently stalled. Aboubakar Ouattara’s men have managed just one win in their last five league matches (D2, L2), dropping to 7th place on the table with 41 points. Despite their struggles, Hearts boast one of the league’s best defensive records, conceding just 17 goals while scoring 22.

At home, the Phobians have been inconsistent, with three wins and two defeats in their last five matches. However, history is on their side — Hearts have never lost at home to Karela United in the league since 2020, a record they’ll be eager to preserve and build on this Sunday.

Karela United find themselves deep in relegation trouble. A 2-0 loss to defending champions FC Samartex 1996 on Wednesday dropped them into 16th place with 28 points from 27 matches. Offensively, they’ve struggled all season, scoring just 17 goals — the joint-lowest tally in the league — while conceding 22.

Nurudeen Amadu’s side also has one of the league’s poorest away records and is winless in their last five matches on the road (D1, L4). A visit to the capital to face Hearts of Oak presents a daunting task, but Karela will be hoping to defy the odds and pick up a much-needed result.
