Chelsea hosts Tottenham Hotspur in their first home league match of the season for the first time since 1958/59. It’s also the new owners’ season opener at the Bridge and the first all-London clash of the season.
Last weekend, Thomas Tuchel’s side won 1-0 at Everton, with a penalty from Jorginho in first-half stoppage time settling a scrappy contest at Goodison Park.
Head to head
Chelsea is unbeaten in seven Premier League games against their London rivals (W6 D1) since losing consecutive Premier League games against Spurs in 2018.
Chelsea hopes to extend their unbeaten streak against Tottenham to 12 games in all competitions since January 2019.
Tottenham Hotspurs
Tottenham will travel to Stanford Bridge in high spirits, as Antonio Conte’s team leads the early table after a 4-1 thrashing of Southampton on the opening weekend.
Chelsea won both meetings between the teams in the Premier League last season, including a 2-0 win over the north Londoners in January.
Antonio Conte’s men will be looking forward to getting the London bragging right after losing to Chelsea last season.
