Former Brighton & Hove Albion coach Chris Hughton has met Callum Hudson-Odoi’s father in what is believed to be his first attempts at convincing the Chelsea star to play for the country of his parents.
Hughton was sported on Friday in Ghana which is lleged he is set to take over the Black Stars coaching job after the sacking of underperforming coach Milovan Rajevac, last week.
He was spotted in a chat with Bismark Odoi, Callum’s father, at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra Sunday afternoon.
Hudson-Odoi, 21, has represented England three times at senior level but is eligible for a nationality switch because all three appearances came before his 21st birthday and none came at a major tournament.
According to sources, Hughton aimed at luring Ghanaian players born abroad to represent the Black Stars after his appointment of the black stars vacant job.
The Ghana Football Association has been looking for a possible interim coach who is capable of taking the Black stars through their world cup qualifies game against Nigeria in March and possibly taking the Black Stars to the World Cup in Qatar.
