The Municipal Chief Executive of Axim Hon. Frank Okpenyen has said the government doesn’t owe the 12 Apostles Church as they are claiming and they will need to evacuate the land as soon as possible for the contractor to finish the construction of the sports complex.
During the week, the son of Lady Pastor Sophia Eshun revealed on Sekondi /Takoradi based radio station Westgold radio that the reason they haven’t moved is that, they are being owed by the Ministry of Youth and Sports and they will also have to receive an amount of GH¢ 50.000 for them to perform some rites on the removal of a Cross before they evacuate the premises for the contractor to finish his work.
But the MCE for Axim Hon. Frank Okpenyen has rubbished that on another Sekondi/Takoradi based radio station Rok FM in an interview with Kweku Sagoe saying that they don’t owe the Lady Pastor and her son anything because they have given them their money in full.
“At first we wanted to give the lady a part payment of her compensation which is GH¢ 50,000 but she refused insisting she is not moving until she receives full payment so we had to work on it for her to receive her full amount.”
He added they gave Pastor Sophia Eshun time to evacuate which she hasn’t evacuated even though the deadline is overdue and they will be willing to use minimum force if she refuses to comply with the directives given because the contractor is under pressure due to his timeline.
