Dreams FC coach Abdul Karim Zito has expressed pride in his team’s performance despite their elimination from the CAF Confederation Cup. The Ghanaian side fell 3-0 to Egyptian giants Zamalek in the second leg of the semi-final on Sunday.
“Today I am proud of our players and I cannot blame them because we know what we were able to achieve,” Dreams FC coach Abdul Karim Zito said after the match.
Dreams FC held Zamalek to a goalless draw in the first leg, but goals from Hamza Mathlouthi, Samson Akinyoola, and Mostafa Shalaby secured victory for the visitors in Kumasi.
Zito acknowledged the lessons learned from the experience: “We must be calm in matches and manage some things in a certain way. We must learn some lessons from the match as we build for the future, and it is important to suffer in order to get what you want.”
Dreams FC will now shift their focus to the Ghana Premier League, where they face Bofoakwa Tano on May 3.
Zamalek, with their victory, progress to the final where they will face either Moroccan side RS Berkane or Algerian side USM Alger.
