England midfielder Emile Smith Rowe has expressed his excitement at completing his move from Arsenal to Fulham.
The 24-year-old midfielder joined the Cottagers in a club-record (£27m) deal and has signed a five-year contract.
Speaking after the transfer, Smith Rowe emphasized his eagerness to link up with his new teammates: “I’m finally here, so I’m really happy for me and my family – it’s a good moment,” he said. “I’m really excited, I just wanted to get here as quickly as possible so I could get going with my team-mates.”
A product of Arsenal’s academy, Smith Rowe joined the club as a 10-year-old and graduated to the first team at 18. Over his 115 appearances for the Gunners, he contributed 18 goals and 18 assists. The attacking midfielder has also earned three caps for England, with his last appearance coming in March 2022.
The England international is clearly keen to make an immediate impact at his new club and will be looking to bring his creativity and attacking flair to Fulham’s midfield.
Fulham’s Director of Football, Tony Khan, expressed his delight at the signing: “We’re very excited to sign such a talented young player, and we look forward to Emile joining the squad in Portugal as we continue to prepare for the new season ahead.” The Cottagers face Benfica on August 2 and Sevilla three days later in pre-season friendlies.
Emile Smith Rowe will be hoping to hit the ground running at his new club as Fulham prepare for the upcoming Premier League campaign.
