Eric Asomani Wiafe wins bronze at the Shanghai International Youth Invitational Championship

The Chinese team Kunming FC, coached by Eric Asomani Wiafe, better known by his stage name Totti, won the bronze medal at the Shanghai International Youth Invitational Championship.

The championship, an annual youth competition with eight years of history, was held for the first time following the COVID-19 pandemic.

16 U17 teams from four nations—China, South Korea, Japan, and Cote d’Ivoire—made up the 2023 edition.

The remaining 11 teams are from China, with two teams from Korea, two from Japan, one from Cote d’Ivoire, and two teams.

Asomani Wiafe began playing for the Kunming U17 squad at the beginning of this year on a two-year contract with an additional year’s option.

He served as the team’s head coach for the Bechem United U17 squad, who competed in the 2019 Dallas Cup in the United States.

Before taking over the Faith Soccer Academy in Prampram and starting to teach there up till his appointment to oversee Kunming, Asomani Wiafe spent a year at Bechem.

The Kunming U17 men’s and women’s teams compete in the Chinese League Two.
