Ghanaian winger Ernest Nuamah found the net for Lyon, but it proved to be a mere consolation goal in a disappointing 4-1 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the French Ligue 1 on Sunday.
PSG stormed out of the gates, taking an early lead through an own goal by Nemanja Matić in the 3rd minute. Lucas Beraldo doubled the advantage just three minutes later. Gonçalo Ramos extended PSG’s lead in the 33rd minute before Nuamah pulled a goal back for Lyon four minutes later. However, Ramos dashed Lyon’s hopes of a comeback with another goal for PSG in the 42nd minute. The game concluded with a 4-1 scoreline favouring PSG.
Nuamah, on loan from Belgian club RWD Molenbeek, was one of Lyon’s bright spots despite the defeat. He was eventually substituted in the 77th minute and earned a commendable rating of 7.7 from SofaScore for his performance.
The defeat leaves Lyon in 8th place on the Ligue 1 table with 41 points after 30 matches. They will look to bounce back when they face Monaco on April 28 in their next league fixture. Ernest Nuamah, with 3 goals and 2 assists in 25 appearances this season, will be hoping to contribute further as Lyon aim to climb the table.
