Ernest Thompson calls for calm amidst ‘sack Milovan’ calls

Former Hearts of Oak board Secretary Ernest Thompson believes it’s too early for Ghanaian to call for the sack of Milovan Rajevac following Ghana’s disastrous African Cup of Nations campaign.

Ghana suffered a group-stage exit at the Africa Cup of Nations after a shameful defeat against debutants Comoros in the final Group C game at the Roumde Adjia Stadium on Tuesday night.

Black Stars were winless in their three matches played in Group C at the AFCON — they lost 1-0 to Morocco before their 1-1 draw with Gabon and subsequently lost 3-2 to Comoros Island.

This has led to the call for the Serbian to be shown the exit door after leading Ghana to its worse AFCON campaign.

But speaking to Footballmadeinghana, the astute football lawyer says the Ghana Football Association should not heed to the calls and take a Knee jerk decision.

“It was a difficult match but they played well and better than the previous matches.
It is not easy beating a national team at such a tournament with 10 men having also conceded an early goal.

“The team is not too strong up front. Majority of the attackers are young and will need time.
The goalkeeper has challenges with ground shots and does not use his legs like other great keepers like the Manchester United keeper.

“But no panicking or Knee jerk decision.
It’s bitter to be taken out of every football tournament but this team started going down from the world cup in Brazil so let’s have patience to re-build it” He added

The Black Stars are expected in Ghana on Thursday after their group stage elimination in the 2021 African Cup of Nations.
