Former Black Stars and Hearts of Oak legend, Bernard Don Bortey has called on Ghanaian football lovers to stop comparing Brazilian midfielder Fabio Gama to Asante Kotoko legend, Stephen Appiah.
According to the 2002 Ghana premier league topscorer, Fabio Gama despite being a very talented player, doesn’t come anyway closer to Stephen Oduro and pleads with fans to halt such discussions.
“Fabio Gama is a good player. He has the qualities but I was sad hearing the fans comparing him to Stephen Oduro. Fabio Gama comes near Stephen Oduro. Stephen Oduro I know is far ahead of Fabio Gama”, he told Pure FM.
Stephen Oduro joined Asante Kotoko from Real Tamale United in 2000 and went on to establish himself as one of the best set-piece takers to have ever graced the Ghana premier league.
The highly gifted midfielder was an integral member of the Kotoko team that won the 2003, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2011, 2013, 2014 and a 2x FA cup titles in his 17years with the porcupine warriors.
Fabio Gama became the first Brazilian to win the Ghana premier league following Kotoko’s league triumph of the 2021/2022 season.
The Brazilian bagged 5goals in 35 appearances for Asante Kotoko in his maiden season.
