The Black Maidens recorded a 3-1 victory over Guinea in the first leg of the FIFA U-17 World Cup India 2022 qualifier on Saturday afternoon at the Stade Général Lansana Conté de Nongo Conakry.
Captain Georgina Ayisha Aoyem shot the visitors ahead in the 13th minute with Rassheeda Shahadu scoring the second for the maidens in the 31st minute from her powerful left foot.
The Guineans reduced the deficit after recess in the 53rd minute but the visitors ensured they maintain their two goal margin with Mariama Maltiti extending the lead in the 59th minute.
Coach Baba Nuhu’s side will welcome the Guineans in Ghana for the return leg of the third round of qualifiers as Ghana’s search for another ticket to the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup having played at the previous edition in New Zealand 2018.
