The 1998 fourth place finishers birthed the tournament into life after edging past Brazil on penalties in the quarter final clash in what many fans around the world thought would be a simple run for the record winners.
However, they take on a formidable and spirited Argentine side who led by skipper Lionel Messi, eye football’s most prestigious trophy.
The Croat’s strength lie in midfield where the trio of Brozovic, Kovacic and 2018 Golden Ball winner Luka Modric gain control over games in mesmerizing fashion against any opposition of immense quality.
The big questions many ask is as to whether back to back finals could be seen at this year’s Mondial where France after beating England also stand a chance of retaining the trophy but must get past the history making Atlas Lions of Morocco who never stop dreaming at this World Cup.
