Five new players who could be named in Black Stars squad for Nigeria game

Ghana’s roster for the FIFA World Cup play-off against Nigeria is likely to be announced by Black Stars coach Otto Addo.

On Thursday, March 3, 2022, Addo is expected to give his list to the Black Stars management committee.

The list will be reviewed by the committee at their meeting on the aforementioned day.

Here are five new faces to expect in the squad

Salis Abdul Samed

The defensive midfielder from Clearmont earned his first call up to the Black Stars for the AFCON in 2021. However, he was unable to join the team for the tournament in Cameroon due to an injury he received after being called up.

The 21-year-old has already returned from injury, starting seven of Clearmont Foot’s eight Ligue 1 games and playing 90 minutes in five of them.

His consistent game time may earn him a second call up, which he will hopefully accept this time.

Salisu Mohammed

Mohammed Salisu is regarded among the top center backs in the English Premier League now.

He has an unbelievable number to go along with his Saints performances. He has the potential to be a significant player in Ghana’s bid to qualify for the World Cup.

After turning down two call-ups to focus on club football, the defensive stalwart has yet to play for the Black Stars.

Antoine Semenyo

Antoine Serlom Semenyo is a Ghanaian striker who competes in the English Football League Championship for Bristol City.

This season, the youthful striker has been in excellent form for Bristol City. In 22 games for the second-tier side, he has 14 goals to his name (6 goals 8 assists).

In February 2022, the British-born Ghanaian was named player of the month.

Seidu Alidu

Alidu Seidu is a Ligue 1 player for Clearmont Foot. Seidu secured a regular spot in the starting eleven during the league’s second round after spending much of the first round on the bench. Since January, he has started six of the seven games he has played in.

Hudson-Odoi

Chelsea winger Eden Hazard is still indecisive about his international future. He has made three appearances for the England national team, although he is still eligible to transfer nationalities and play for Ghana.

Bismark Odoi, the British-born Ghanaian’s father and agent, met with Blak Stars technical advisor Chris Hughton.
