Former Kotoko goalkeeper Razak Abalora has completed a loan move to Moldovan outfit FC Petrocub from FC Sheriff Tiraspol. He becomes Petrocub’s first signing of the January transfer window, bolstering their roster with a seasoned shot-stopper.
Abalora’s journey to Moldova began in 2022, when he signed for FC Sheriff Tiraspol after a successful stint with Ghanaian Premier League giants Asante Kotoko. His time with Sheriff was nothing short of triumphant, as he helped the club lift the Moldovan Super Liga and Moldovan Cup trophies twice each. During his tenure, he made a remarkable 24 appearances, keeping a clean sheet on 17 occasions.
Petrocub, aiming to strengthen their defense and challenge for the title, recognized Abalora’s talent and experience as the perfect solution. This loan move offers him a fresh platform to shine and contribute to their success.
Abalora expressed his enthusiasm for the new challenge on Twitter, stating: “New home. The hard work never stops. Believer.” This unwavering commitment and positive spirit are sure to serve him well as he embarks on this new chapter.
Petrocub currently sit second in the Moldovan National Division, six points behind league leaders Sheriff. Abalora’s experience and shot-stopping prowess could be the missing piece in their pursuit of a first-ever league title.
Abalora’s arrival at FC Petrocub is a significant development for both the club and the Ghanaian football community. His experience and talent promise to be valuable assets, and his journey in Moldova will be one to watch for fans of both clubs and beyond.
