Former Kotoko striker criticizes Prosper Ogum’s coaching approach at Asante Kotoko

Former Asante Kotoko striker Sadick Adams has harshly criticized current head coach Prosper Ogum, questioning his ability and approach to coaching.

Adams, who had a brief stint at the club before moving to Lebanese side Shabab El Bourj SC, expressed his dissatisfaction with Ogum’s performance, citing the club’s poor results under his tenure.

Kotoko finished sixth last season, and the team has suffered three consecutive defeats in the current campaign, putting Ogum under significant pressure.

Adams believes that Ogum’s academic background and his approach to coaching are hindering the team’s performance.

“I thought they said he is a good coach. Last season did not go well, and this season too?” Adams said, expressing his frustration.

Adams also made a pointed remark about Ogum’s educational background, suggesting that coaches with academic careers should stick to lecturing rather than coaching professional players.

“I can’t deal with Doctors or Professors who are coaches. Those coaches talk like they are teaching in school. Coaches who are lecturers should lecture in school and stop coaching.

It is different lecturing in school and dealing with players. Lecturing players will not work because they are professionals,” he added.

During his time at Kotoko, Adams was known for scoring match-winning goals, including a memorable first-half hat-trick against Accra Hearts of Oak in the 2017 MTN FA Cup.

However, as Kotoko currently sits sixth in the league standings with 15 points after 10 matches, the pressure on Ogum to deliver results is mounting, and Adams’ criticism adds to the ongoing scrutiny of the coach’s methods.
