France Head Coach Didier Descamps eyes Victorio Pozo record of 1938

France Head Coach Didier Descamps looks to become the first manager since Italy’s Victorio Pozo in 1938 to win the World Cup back to back and as he leads the 2018 Champions in their semi final clash against Morocco in the second Semi Final.

Descamps was skipper of the 1998 France squad that won the World Cup against Brazil at the Stade De France and won it as coach in 2018.

The French Coach sits with Mario Zagallo who won the World Cup with Brazil in 1958 and 1962 as a player and Franz Beckenbauer who won the world cup as player in 1974 and led that German side with skipper Lothar Matheus to glory against Argentina in 1990 as coach.

However, Descamps faces a huge test in the Atlas Lions of Morocco even after beating England in the quarter final to book a place in the last four of this year’s Mondial.

Morocco are resilient and play so compactly at the back yet have so much quality in the wide areas and up front against any opposition.

It remains a tactical battle between Descamps and Walid Regragui as Morocco have conceded only nine shots on target from opposition in the whole tournament.

They have conceded an average of 1.7 shots in this year’s Mondial and have been tipped by many to stun the Champions in the second Semi Final.

France still look like the most formidable side in the tournament from defense to attack and with Kylian Mbappe and Antoine Griezmann, the 2018 winners will look to stamp their authority and book a place in the final to make it back to back wins since Brazil in 1958 and 1962.

It is without doubt that Descamps has stamped his name in World Cup history yet the former France Skipper dreams of more glory at the world’s biggest stage.
