Ghanaian defender Zico Asare has expressed his excitement after joining English League Two side Harrogate Town.
The 23-year-old arrives from English side Maidenhead United, where he impressed over a two-year spell, making 88 appearances.
Harrogate Town are yet to reveal the contract details of Zico Asare.
Asare highlighted his enthusiasm for the move, focusing on the club’s philosophy and his own style: “I’m really happy to get the deal done. I had a phone call with the Gaffer [manager] and he told me the ambitions of the club and the way they play, which was in line with how I like to play.”
This statement suggests a strong fit between Asare and Harrogate Town’s playing style. Asare’s preference for possession-based, defensively sound teams could be a valuable asset for the League Two outfit.
Born in England, Asare began his career with English Premier League side Fulham in 2017. He has also represented England at the U16 and U17 levels but remains eligible to play for Ghana. The London-born could potentially make his Harrogate Town debut on July 13 in a friendly against Huddersfield Town.
Harrogate Town fans can look forward to a defender who thrives in a system that aligns with his strengths. Asare’s arrival bolsters their defensive options ahead of the upcoming League Two campaign.
