Ghanaian defender Alidu Seidu has expressed his excitement and ambition about joining French Ligue 1 outfit Stade Rennais on a four-year contract from Clermont Foot.
Reflecting on his growth at Clermont, Seidu remarked, “Stade Rennais is a great club; it’s a huge privilege for me. I had a great time at Clermont. They welcomed me like family and helped me develop as a player and a person. I owe them a lot, but the adventure continues in Rennes, and I’m thrilled about it.”
Seidu’s journey began at the renowned JMG Academy in Ivory Coast, where his raw talent was honed. In 2020, he crossed the border to join Clermont Foot B. His rapid progress quickly earned him a promotion to the first team. Over three seasons, he established himself as a reliable and versatile defender, making an impressive 89 appearances across all competitions.
Alidu Seidu joins a distinguished list of Ghanaian players who have worn the Rennais jersey, including John Mensah, Asamoah Gyan, John Boye, Kamal Issah, and Kamaldeen Sulemana. He now has a fantastic opportunity to etch his own name in the club’s history and contribute to their future success.
