Ghanaian forward Ibrahim Sadiq emerged as the hero for AZ Alkmaar, scoring a goal and contributing an assist in their thrilling 3-2 comeback win over RKC Waalwijk in the Dutch Eredivisie.
AZ Alkmaar found themselves trailing by two goals at halftime after David Min’s double strike for RKC Waalwijk. However, the introduction of Ibrahim Sadiq in the 62nd minute, replacing Dave Kwakman, completely transformed the game. Just four minutes after coming on, Sadiq provided a crucial assist for Yukinari Sugawara to pull one back for AZ.
The Right To Dream graduate wasn’t done there. He showcased his attacking prowess by scoring the equalizer himself in the 75th minute. Vangelis Pavlidis then completed the dramatic comeback with the winning goal two minutes later, securing all three points for AZ Alkmaar.
This performance adds to Sadiq’s growing reputation at AZ. Despite only featuring in 12 league matches this season, he has already notched a goal and two assists. Although capped at the U20 level, Sadiq’s impressive displays could see him earn a call-up to the senior Ghana national team, the Black Stars, in the near future.
AZ Alkmaar, currently sitting fourth on the Eredivisie table with 55 points after 30 matches played, will look to build on this momentum when they face NEC in their next league game on April 28.
