Ghana’s Mathew Anim Cudjoe Seeks New Challenge After Leaving Dundee UnitedGhanaian midfielder Mathew Anim Cudjoe is set to depart Scottish club Dundee United after two and a half seasons with the team. His contract officially ended on May 30, 2024.
Footballing Terms
In a statement released on Tuesday, June 18, Dundee United confirmed Cudjoe’s decision to move on. “The club made an offer that reflected our vision for Mathew in both financial and footballing terms,” the statement reads, “however, the Ghanaian has chosen to pursue his career elsewhere.”
After playing for Young Apostles in Ghana’s lower division, Cudjoe joined Dundee United on a free transfer in November 2021. Before that, he gained experience in the Ghanaian Premier League with Asante Kotoko and Legon Cities, but these were loan spells in 2019 and 2020, respectively.
The 2023/24 Season
The 20-year-old’s most significant contribution came in the 2023/24 season. He played a key role in securing the Scottish Championship title and promotion back to the Scottish Premiership. He scored four goals during that campaign and provided three assists in 22 league appearances.
Throughout his time with Dundee United, Mathew Anim Cudjoe made 46 appearances across all competitions, scoring five goals and providing four assists. He also boasts four caps representing Ghana at the under-20 level.
