Ghana’s Sports minister, Mustapha Ussif, is confident the Black Stars will qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) despite the growing strength of lesser-known teams on the international stage.

“Now there is no small team in the world,”Ussif said, acknowledging the recent success of underdog nations. “Even the smaller countries are doing so well…”

However, his faith remains strong in Black Stars coach Otto Addo and his technical team. Ghana was drawn into Group F alongside Angola, Niger, and Sudan in the qualifiers. Ussif highlights Addo’s familiarity with these teams, stating, “Otto Addo knows most of these countries… I have so much confidence that we will top the group.”

Ghana’s qualification campaign begins on September 2nd with a home game against Angola. They are determined to secure their place in the tournament hosted by Morocco, which runs from December 25th, 2025, to January 18th, 2026. It is important to remember that only the top two teams from each group (excluding the host nation Morocco) will qualify for the final AFCON 2025 tournament.

Under Otto Addo’s guidance, the Ghanaian squad aims to build on their strengths and navigate the challenges posed by their group opponents. Fans and supporters are optimistic about the team’s chances and look forward to a successful qualifying run, hoping to see the Black Stars shine in Morocco.
