Owing to an unconvincing run from the Black Stars in the ongoing 33rd edition of the Africa continetal show down in Cameroon, Hon Wisdom Kobena Woyome Ranking Member of Youth, Sports and Culture has suggest government to build the capacity of the local coaches for the national teams.
Adding voice to the recent AFCON bruhauha where in a group of Morroco, Gabon and Comoros, the Black Stars could only managed a point as they failed to qualify from the group stage first time since 2006 in Egypt, that Mr.Woyome feels all previous glory for the country was acheived by local coaches for that matter should their level of capacity is built, would be good for the nation.
This he said speaking to Kumasi base Akoma 87.9 Fm on their afternoon sports show “It’s sad, the technical team didn’t look sharp, the playing body showed some lackadaisical attitude.
“I have a soft spot for local coaches because I want us to build their capacity. Looking at the previous Afcons we won, we won them with local coaches, so all am saying is that, there’s so much we can do with local coaches but the question is that “have they built the needed capacity of local coaches to deliver”?
“And this must be the responsibility of the system (government). This is the only way to stop appointing expatriates or looking for the best foreign coaches.
And if we want to look for expatriates, we should go in for the best and not the likes of Milo whose performance was not looking good prior to his appointment”. He continued
Despite seeing eviction from the group stage,Ghana have been billed to face sworn rivals Nigeria in the upcoming World cup qualifiers playoff.
