Former Barcelona manager, Ronald Koeman has been reappointed as head Coach of the Dutch national team following Louis Van Gaal’s resignation after the World Cup.
He becomes the fourth manager to lead the Orange bench twice with his return being his twelfth job of his career, and also his second for Netherlands in the last three years.
Koeman intends to return the Dutch to their regular 4-3-3 formation rather than the 5-3-2 formation used by Van Gaal at the world cup.
The 1992 Champions League winner led the Netherlands to a silver finish in the UEFA Nations League in 2019 against Portugal and will lead them yet again in the 2024 European Championship.
Koeman believes a change in style of the Dutch approach in football will be key to their progress in the upcoming years.
“We try to play attractive and fun football in the Netherlands, and 20 international matches remain unbeaten, that will be incredible if I manage to do the same”.
