I enjoy the pressure of being an ‘Ayew’ – Jordan Ayew

Ghana forward, Jordan Ayew says he enjoys playing under the pressure that his surname brings.

The 30-year-old who is the son of the legendary Abedi Ayew Pele, has come under a lot of criticism in recent years for his lack of goal scoring form for his club and country.

However, the Crystal Palace player insists his family name only motivates him to work hard to make a name for himself.

“You have a lot of pressure in the country [Ghana] because the name Ayew is a big name and they have always seen very good Ayew players so there is always pressure to be on top,” he told Supersport.

“I was born in pressure and I’m still living in pressure so for me, it’s a daily thing. It’s part of life and I’m enjoying it and I’m so proud.”

Jordan Ayew has scored 29 goals in the Premier League, the highest figure attained by a Ghanaian, and has scored 19 goals for the Ghana national team.
