Thomas Partey will be out for several weeks after suffering a thigh injury, Arsenal have confirmed.
The midfielder had the injury in the second half of Arsenal’s 3-0 defeat to Crystal Palace in London derby
Arsenal headcoach Mikel Arteta said after the game ‘big concern’ referring to the Ghana international’s injury.
“He felt something in the same area that he got injured previously.”
The Ghana international underwent scans this week to know the extent of days he will be on the sidelines.
Arteta is now sweating on Partey’s replacement in the next crucial matches his side are faced with.
Arsenal have not put a timeline on the return of the player but said:
‘Our No. 5 was substituted during Monday night’s game against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park after aggravating his right thigh.
‘Thomas has since received further assessments, and a subsequent scan has shown muscle damage to his right thigh.
‘We will continue to assess Thomas in the coming weeks, during which time he will also receive further specialist consultations.
‘Everyone will be working hard to get Thomas back on the pitch as soon as possible.
