Barcelona club president Joan Laporta has confirmed a deadline day move for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is still alive and he expects to close a deal shortly.
Arsenal have been keen to shift their former captain this window, fielding offers from Saudi Arabia, only for Aubameyang to knock them back.
The Gabon striker has had his heart set on a move to Barcelona and even landed in the city on Monday morning with a view to completing a late loan move to Camp Nou – only for both Barça and Arsenal to insist they had not reached an agreement and his arrival in Catalonia was premature.
But Laporta is keen to get a deal over the line and confirmed to Mundo Deportivo that he expects Aubameyang to join on loan late on Monday evening.
Barcelona have already completed the permanent signing of winger Ferran Torres from Manchester City this window, as well as sealing an initial loan for Wolves star Adama Traore over the weekend.
Head coach Xavi has been keen to add to his squad to help Barça’s wavering top-four bid.
