Ghanaian striker Jonathan Sowah has completed a move from Medeama SC to Libyan giants, Al Nasr Benghazi.
While details of the contract remain undisclosed, the move marks a significant step up for the 26-year-old forward.
Sowah’s journey began in 2023 when he joined Medeama SC from lower-tier side Danbort FC. He quickly blossomed into a formidable force, netting an impressive 19 goals in just 35 appearances. His prolific scoring proved instrumental in Medeama’s triumphant run to the Ghanaian Premier League title and qualification for the CAF Champions League group stage.
Sowah’s exploits did not go unnoticed by the national team selectors. He earned a coveted call-up to the Black Stars, Ghana’s senior national team, and was even part of the squad for the recent 2023 Africa Cup of Nations tournament, though he didn’t see any playing time.
Now, a new chapter unfolds for Jonathan Sowah as he laces up for Al Nasr Benghazi. The Libyan giants have secured a proven goalscorer to bolster their attacking ranks, while Sowah gets a golden opportunity to test his mettle in a new league and potentially propel his career to even greater heights. He could even make his debut as early as January 27th against Al Sadaqa in the Libyan league.
This transfer marks a significant development for both player and club. Al Nasr Benghazi bolsters their offensive arsenal with a reliable marksman, while Sowah receives a platform to showcase his talent on a wider stage and potentially attract even bigger opportunities in the future.
