Ghanaian winger Joseph Paintsil has expressed his appreciation for the warm reception from fans after making his Major League Soccer (MLS) debut for LA Galaxy in a thrilling 1-1 draw against Inter Miami in their first match of the 2024 MLS season.
Taking to Twitter after the match, Paintsil wrote: “Massive love & appreciation to the fans for the support on my MLS debut. Looking forward to more of this.”
The 26-year-old, who recently joined LA Galaxy from Belgian club Genk on a four-year contract, made a positive impact in his first outing. He won a penalty for his new team in the 13th minute, although Riqui Puig missed the conversion.
Paintsil continued to contribute offensively throughout the match, showcasing his attacking prowess. He was eventually substituted by Daniel Aguirre in the 89th minute.
Despite taking the lead through Dejan Joveljic in the 75th minute, LA Galaxy were denied a victory by none other than Lionel Messi, who equalized for Inter Miami in the 92nd minute.
Joseph Paintsil will look to build on this positive debut as LA Galaxy travel to face San Jose Earthquakes in their next MLS game on March 3.
