The Kudus Saga
The youngster was initially named among Ghana’s final squad for the tournament by the erstwhile Milovan Rajevac. This triggered his club Ajax Amsterdam through their coach Eric Ten Haag to express their shock at the call-up as the player was unfit and then on the injury table.
Subsequently, he recovered and returned to full fitness raising hopes among the Ghana technical team that he would eventually join his national teammates.
Ajax once again expressed surprise at the stance of the event and revealed the player was lacking the required fitness to be able to play competitively after a lengthy absence.
Ghana embarrassingly exited the tournament at the group stage picking just a point after 3 games against Morocco, Gabon and Comoros.
In the aftermath of the competition and amidst the post mortem exercise ongoing, several allegations have been made to make meaning of what transpired in Cameroon.
Among the many claims are that of juju in camp which has been ascribed as a reason Kudus for instance decided against reporting to camp.
The statement from his camp will do well to quell such rumors and make the player’s stance very clear.
